Once again, I’m back introducing you to one of our many amazing new artists this season. With our Associate Artists coming on tour just around the corner, I’m so excited to introduce you to Norah Takehara! Take a second and learn a little more about her and her background!

Hometown: Monterey, CA
Favorite Color: At the moment, pastel blue!
Favorite style of dance: Contemporary or Ballet
Favorite Choreographer: It’s so hard to choose! I love Martha Graham, Crystal Pite, and Jiri Kylian. There’s something so beautiful and satisfying about the intricacies of those choreographers’ works.
When I started dancing: I started at the age of 2!
College/training: University of Arizona School of Dance
Siblings: I have one younger brother who is one of my greatest inspirations!
Why do you feel passionate about dance?: I love the way that performances can draw out deep emotions from audience members. Dancing in a way that makes someone feel something is such a unique feeling that I constantly strive for!
If you weren’t a dancer, what career would you choose?: I would love to become a Physical Therapist after my dance career!
If you could do a duet with one person, who would it be?: Hmmm… I have no idea; there are so many people to choose from!
Favorite place you’ve traveled: That’s tough, I love traveling and exploring new places! I would say maybe Lisbon, Portugal?
Favorite food: I love sushi!
One word to describe yourself: Determined.
If you had a dance move that described you, what would it be?: Probably a rond de jambe with some fun port de bras?
Fun facts: I used to volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in high school!
